Coronado Prep student Maria Ochoa, 16, is near death after crashing her car on an isolated stretch of New Mexico Highway 14 during a blizzard. When the only person to show up to help her is a teen gangbanger named Demetrio Vigil, Maria fears she’s doomed, until the young man manages, miraculously, to heal her nearly fatal wounds with nothing but the warm energy radiating from his hands. Maria is grateful for the help, and seeks to thank Demetrio by returning to the tiny ghost town of Golden, where he said he lives, to find him and give him a gift. What she discovers about Demetrio along the way, however, not only defies logic and belief, but puts Maria’s very life in terrible danger.
The Temptation of Demetrio Vigil The Ghosts of Golden Book 1 eBook Alisa Valdes
For me Alisa is the go to author for romance, chick-lit, escapism at its finest. I had her firmly pigeonholed in that role. It never occurred to me that she could produce a whole new genre while being true to her literary strengths. Alisa has created spirit-romance. This book successfully weds romance, faith, love, spiritual growth and fantasy all in one book of romance. I first thought of this as spirit-fantasy but when I think of love it's not a fantasy. It's real. Alisa makes the love in this book very real. I was not only willing but able to relate to the characters. The characters in this original version are so much more enjoyable and rich than in Temptation. The Temptation of Demetrio Vigil (TTDV) is dramatically better. The characters pop. The faith and love and evil and fear and truth of every character in TTDV resonated with me. I felt so fully invested in Demetrio I was literally heartbroken in the final pages. Demetrio is everything Travis is not: a full character with real feelings. Shane is a tragic heroine that has flaws and a realness to her that made me want to jump into the story and shake her sometimes. I'm dying to see the sequel that is based upon THIS version, not Temptation. I need more Demetrio and after reading it, you will too.Product details

The Temptation of Demetrio Vigil The Ghosts of Golden Book 1 eBook Alisa Valdes Reviews
I really wished I had read this version first. I thoroughly enjoyed this version much more than the other titled Temptation. The characters in this version were interesting and relatable. More along the lines of the author`s style which I have grown to love. I would love it if a second book was written to finish this story. I was left wanting to know more. I felt as if was left on a cliff for not knowing if Demetrio came back. At the risk of being cheesy, Demetrio had me at hello .
I enjoyed how the author developed the characters in this novel. I felt a connection to them, especially Kelsey. I might have appreciated this book more if I were in high school. The spiritual scenes were getting a little too predictable and silly for me.
I loved this book! When I got to the end I totally wanted the book to keep going. Diapointed there isn't a second volume. Hope one is on it's way!!! Got hooked from the very begining, as a Latina I appreciated the referances made to my roots. Enjoyed every word.
I really enjoyed the story as it reminded me of childhood stories of La Llorona and other folk stories. The author did a good job of balancing the old stories with a more modern twist. I also COMPLETELY agree with the authors decision to publish this version over the other one that she was forced to change. The story has more authenticity the way she told it instead of completely Americanizing it like the other version. Thank you to the author for sticking to your guns and knowing your audience.
Oh my god! So much better than I would have ever thought! Seriously one of my favorites from this author!
Alisa is one of my favorite authors and I'm so glad she published her original version of this book. I couldn't put it down! Whereas in the other version, I couldn't get past the first chapter. I fell in love with the characters and even the mystical/spiritual part of the storyline. (Which I really don't care to read) Let's just say author got everything right, and I was not disappointed. Reading at 3am and not being able to stop means it was more than a great read. Thank you, Alisa and I'm happy you are 'back!'
Please write a sequel ASAP.
I wasn't sure about this book because I am so over were wolves and vampires. I am so glad I took the chance because this is a fascinating story and like others, I finished it in one sitting. Very interesting tale that had me intrigued and sometimes totally confused. Like when he was trying to describe Kindreds and Kindred Primaries. Whoa, I have to admit I skimmed through most of that since it had my head spinning. Great story and amazing characters. My only complaint is there's not another book already so I know what happens next.
