Jillian Westfield has the perfect suburban life straight out of the upscale women's magazines that she obsessively reads. She's got the modern-print rugs of Metropolitan Home, the elegant meals from Gourmet, the clutter-free closets out of Real Simple, and the elaborate Easter egg hunts seen in Parents. With her successful investment banker husband behind the wheel and her cherubic 18-month-old in the backseat, hers could be the family in the magazines' glossy Range Rover ads.

Yet somehow all of the how-to magazine stories in the world can't seem to fix her faltering marriage, banish the tedium of days spent changing diapers, or stop her from asking, "What if?"

Then, one morning, Jillian wakes up seven years in the past. Before her daughter was born. Before she married Henry. Suddenly, she's back in her post-grad school Ikea-furnished Manhattan apartment. She's back in her fast-paced job with the advertising agency. And she's still with Jackson, the ex-boyfriend and star of her what-if fantasies.

Armed with 20-20 hindsight, she's free to choose all over again. She can use the zippy ad campaigns from her future to wow the clients and bosses in her present. She can reconnect with the mother who abandoned her so many years before. She can fix the fights at every juncture that doomed her relationship with Jackson. Or can she?

With each new choice setting off a trajectory of unforeseen consequences, Jillian soon realizes that getting to happily ever after is more complicated than changing the lines in her part of the script. Happiness, it turns out, isn't an either-or proposition. As she closes in on all the things she thought she wanted, Jillian must confront the greatest what-if of all What if the problem was never Henry or Jackson, but her?

Sharp, funny, and heartwarming, Time of My Life will appeal to anyone who has ever wanted to redo the past and will leave readers pondering, "Do we get the reality we deserve?"

Time of My Life A Novel (Audible Audio Edition) Allison Winn Scotch Gabrielle de Cuir Audible Studios Books

I bought "TIME OF MY LIFE” on another author’s recommendation. It was my first read from Allison Winn Scotch and I’m a BIG fan.
The cover and the title are somewhat deceiving. It's not a light read, it's full of depth.

The premise is not new or original. There are several movies done with this concept, but ‘TIME OF MY LIFE’ is written without the fluffy fantasy make belief, it’s raw and real. Reading is very subjective, but for me it’s either an escape or a connection. This book was both.
The main protagonist, Jillian lost her identity, trading her professional city life for a stay at home mom in suburbs. She is very lonely and stuck in her stale marriage. With a help of a masseur, unblocking her meridians, she goes back in time, with the present knowledge and maturity.

It’s provocative and sensitive at the same time. It evokes emotions in every single one of us that has been THERE….. Let’s talk about how we all try to live to some crazy society expectations, the loneliness, the despair, the exhaustion, the fear, and the overwhelming feeling that everyone else is doing it perfectly, and you are drowning. Or let’s talk about the self-reflection of highly educated, extremely successful professionally, kick ass and capable women, who are readjusting to the shock of taking care of babies.

Jillian gets the chance to step out of that limbo and goes back. She realizes that a lot of her unhappy comes from within. She alters many of her reactions, her seasoned maturity handles many situations differently, with much better results. Ultimately she is the one who saves herself, not some other hero.
The point of the story is the journey of maturity. The empowering message of taking responsibility for our own happiness, the weight of our choices and living up to them.

In the end the buildup, the evolution, the whole transformation was huge and it didn't match the ending. I selfishly needed more celebration.

Time of My Life A Novel (Audible Audio Edition) Allison Winn Scotch Gabrielle de Cuir Audible Studios Books Reviews

As a woman who has been married a very long time, this story resonated truth. The challenges of motherhood, marriage, work and family can boil over and leave emptiness and regret.
Jill is filled with regret in all aspects of her life. How she comes upon her second chance, isn't the issue in the book, but accepting how her decisions determined her life becomes her New reality.
While a bit heavier than I thought it would be, I am so glad I made my choice to read Time of My Life. No regrets. No go-backs.
I downloaded this book and listened to it on the audible app from . I found this to be the most boring, ridiculous book that I have read in a long time. The book actually has a good message and I won't spoil it by commenting, but you don't really get to the message until the end of the book. The only reason I kept listening is because I had paid extra for the audible version. I don't recommend. Giving it two stars just because it does have a life message.
I have read other books by the author, and I loved them. However, this book was an entirely different experience. On many occasions I was ready to literally put it down and stop reading. It took forever for me to get into the book, yet I was too obstinate to stop and simply walk away. Part of me kept reading to see if it got better...which it did...marginally. Nope, I didn't buy the storyline, and I felt nothing for the characters...especially Jillian. When the book ended, I was relieved and happy it was over. My recommendation would be to spend your time reading something else!
The premise is not that unusual, but is clever in this context. Unlike most books involving time travel, this is NOT a sci-first novel. My disappointment is that the author could have had fun with it, but, instead, was so deadly serious and angst-driven. The description that I was given made the book seem more lighthearted than it really was. Nevertheless, I continued reading, in part, because a book has to be truly, truly horrid for me to put it down (only once in my life) and, in part, because what the author was saying overall was interesting. The book was this very weighty look at a woman's life at a certain point in time, what choices got her there, and what things she might/could have changed to get to a better place. On the one hand, her epiphany could have occurred much, much earlier in the novel. Indeed, it did in a way, but she glossed over it. The book could have been compressed quite a bit. On the other hand, post-epiphany, some more explanation would have been nice. Why, if things had changed so fundamentally, did she have irrational urges to clean maniacally, for a teeny, tiny example. Or, even, how did she get her memories, since she woke up knowing nothing about the "now?" We spent sooo much time agonizing over her past choices and traumas, but absolutely no time explaining what her new choices had been or how she resolved her traumas (the latter I really wanted to know). We became invested in the lives of important secondary characters, but never really learned what ended up happening to them and why. A basic question also exists as to whether she did go back in time, since changes she put in motion while "back" seemed to have made a difference, or whether she never went back, but somehow made the necessary changes anyway. The ending doesn't make that clear. I was left slightly bored, but frustrated, nonetheless. I would have made the book the same length, but shortened the pre-epiphany part, and lengthened the post-epiphany portion. However, I gave it three stars, because I could see how some readers might enjoy a serious look at the issue. The book was well-written, addressed the issues clearly, and considered the underlying question thoroughly. Not everyone wants humor in their reading. What I thought of as overly long, someone else might view as thorough. The additional parts did add weight and detailed insight into the epiphany. The author set out to write an important work. She did not quite succeed, but made a dogged, reasonably interesting effort and discussed a fundamental problem facing many women.
