Whiskey Ginger is a collection of 54 stunning poems written by two graduates of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University. The poets' collaborative process–writing poems of the same title–blossomed into this compilation that is all at once lyrical, playful, funny, tender, sensual, full of heart, and deeply thought-provoking. A simple idea One of the poets would send a completed poem to the other. The receiving poet would take the title of the sent poem and complete his or her own version and send it back. The constant exchange of poems was exciting, and after a while, both poets instinctively knew which poem ideas would naturally complete the book. Both poets had a feeling that John's love of form and wordplay and Natascha's earthy and natural free verse would blend beautifully in this collection. John and Natascha are eager to begin new poems that will be separate ventures for now. But who knows? Perhaps another compilation will come together in the future!

I have read Natasha and John's book three times. When I realized that they split the pages, a poem by John and a poem by Natasha both written about the same word but clearly from separate amazing visual hearts. I am in awe, curious on how these two writers decided on the topics, aligned themselves in a similar direction, and so delicately dusted each word with an image.Product details

I love the poems. I love the juxtaposition of each poet's version on opposing pages. Some of the poems are moving; all of them are inspiring. The two version of a poem make a reader wonder if there could be a third version and, if brave enough or free enough, to try and create one. The book is more than a collection of poems; it is an invitation into creative mental place. Marvelous.
This sometimes whimsical, sometimes thoughtful play on themes and dance of words was very enjoyable. I especially liked the mindful, lower case wanderings. Also, I absolutely love the cover art! Get it, you'll enjoy it. I'm on the third read now.
